1. Set a Quit Day- When you decide to quit smoking- set a quit day-not tomorrow, but within 3 weeks. Give yourself time to learn about nicotine and develop a Quit Plan.
2. Develop Your Unique Quit Plan-
- Think about what smoking means to you
- Do you smoke to decrease anxiety; normalize mood or suppress appetite?
- Do you amoke to cope with stress, as a unconscious habit; certain times of the day?
- Do you smoke with family members, co-workers, when you are partying?
- Become aware of
- When you smoke
- Where you smoke
- Why you smoke
- Seriously consider and start practicing TOOLS AND TECHNIQUES that have helped others.
- Learn about Nicotine Replacement Therapy and which one is best for you!
3. Take Action on Your Quit Plan
- Short-term strategies, then long term-strategies;
- Revise your Quit Plan, as needed
- Get support! Stay confident and focused!
