1. Set a Quit Day- When you decide to quit smoking- set a quit day-not tomorrow, but within 3 weeks.  Give yourself time to learn about nicotine and develop a Quit Plan.

2. Develop Your Unique Quit Plan-

  • Think about what smoking means to you
  • Do you smoke to decrease anxiety; normalize mood or suppress appetite?
  • Do you amoke to cope with stress, as a unconscious habit; certain times of the day?
  • Do you smoke with family members, co-workers, when you are partying? 
  • Become aware of
    • When you smoke
    • Where you smoke
    • Why you smoke
  • Seriously consider and start practicing TOOLS AND TECHNIQUES that have helped others. 
  • Learn about Nicotine Replacement Therapy and which one is best for you!

3.  Take Action on Your Quit Plan

  • Short-term strategies, then long term-strategies;
  • Revise your Quit Plan, as needed
  • Get support!  Stay confident and focused!
